How To Clean The Diffuser Downstem
Step 1: Preparing for Cleaning
Prepare the cleaning materials (alcohol, coarse salt, cleaning brush, Ziploc bag, paper towels or absorbent cloth). The first step in cleaning is to disassemble your diffuser downstem. Place them carefully when disassembling so that the glass parts do not break due to impact.

Step 2: Rinse with hot water
Rinse the disassembled glass diffuser downstem with hot water. Initially remove some dirt attached to the surface to facilitate the next step of cleaning.

Step 3: Add Coarse Salt and Alcohol, Shake and Soak
After completing the initial cleaning, put the perc downstems into a ziplock bag, add salt and enough isopropyl alcohol, then seal the bag and shake the bag (if you are cleaning more than one stem at a time, make sure that you only put one insert in each bag at a time, otherwise the glass fittings will collide with each other during the shaking and will break). Shake for about 30 seconds, then let them soak for a while. Repeat this step until the down stems are clean.

Step 4: Rinse with Hot Water Again
If your diffuser stems look clean after the above steps, rinse them in hot water to remove any salt/alcohol residue. Rinse thoroughly to ensure all residue is removed. If there are still some stains, you can partially scrub them with a cleaning brush.
Dry the glass down stem thoroughly with a paper towel for next time.
